Can I migrate my office 365 from an Intel base i7, 2014 Macbook Pro to a M4 Macbook Pro?

You want all new Office 365 applications and licensing for the M4 MacBook Pro. Those new Office 365 executables are Universal2 binaries and will work on the M4 MacBook Pro. Only transfer your MS 365 documents to the new Mac.

Microsoft currently only supports macOS Ventura (13.*), Sonoma (14.*), and Sequoia (15.*) operating systems for new MS Office installations and licensing.

Do not migrate the Office 365 apps from your old 2014 MBP to your new M4 MBP. Assuming you have an active (current) subscription to Office 365, just download a fresh copy from your MS account and do a new install on your M4.

Only migrate/copy/transfer your documents (Word, PPT, Excel files). As for Outlook email, on the assumption you have been using IMAP (not POP), just install Outlook & set up your email accounts; your IMAP folders & messages will appear.

I would expect you could just make a clean install of it downloaded from microsoft and activate it with your subscription activation code or however they handle it

365 is a subscription so you don't really depend on the current installation to be transferred.
