How can I send fax from my MacBook Air?

I have a MacBook Air and I need to send a fax. I have about 8 pages I need to send but have no fax myself. I was looking for alternative ways to send and/or receive a fax without having to have a traditional fax machine.

So far I've evaluated a service called Fax.plus which has worked pretty well.

Yes they do. OP stated they don't have a traditional fax machine and personally I would not recommend purchasing one, but multifunction printers that have fax capabilities are very common and there is no indication that a landline is not available.

For a single use case of faxing 8 pages, there are better options such as visiting a Copy Center or using a third party service, but if looking for ways to send faxes with a Mac, my recommendation would be to use a multifunction printer. They are cheap, flexible, can be used for scanning, printing and also receiving faxes if necessary. The AirPrint protocol used by Apple and most printer manufactures includes faxing for supported printers.

Just making sure I understood the recommendation, that's all!

I haven't had a landline in well over a decade...

The most common way users fax now is with a multi-function printer, not by using a traditional fax machine. Apple offers this Support Article to facilitate faxing with these printers.

As an alternative there are many different third party services online that will send a fax for a fee. If you have found one that works well for you, then I would recommend to stick with that one.

The last time I needed to send a fax, I found a service online that offered a free trial, faxed my document and canceled the service. The only really important things were that the fax went through and that I didn't have to pay for it. Unless you're going to keep the service long-term, I'm not sure what else would matter.

If you plan on keeping the service, then you need to evaluate the features each one offers agains the price and decide.
