how do I get the volume control in the upper right corner

How do I put a volume control in the upper right corner next to the date/time on the computer screen.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.13

Settings>Control Center>Sound

Select the option you want.

Always Show in Menu Bar

Show when Active

or

Don't Show in Menu Bar
