Problems with lag and smooth animations on Safari iOS 18 (GSAP and JavaScript)

Hi all,

after updating to iOS 18, I noticed a significant drop in Safari performance on iPhone. Specifically:

Animations created with GSAP and features where JavaScript is required have become much less smooth

Some interactions, such as scrollTrigger, fade-in, translateY and scale effects, show noticeable lag or jerking, and not only in my sites that I develop but also in other agencies' sites.

Before the update, these animations worked perfectly, without any lag or frame loss, plus if I open the site on mozzilla firefox of iphone, the animations are smooth and there is no lag. So the problem is on safari, and this is a huge image damage for agencies doing web development and web design.

I tested the same sites on Firefox and Chrome (now free to use their engines on iOS) and the experience is incredibly smoother, which confirms that the problem is related to Safari/WebKit.

Has anyone else experienced these problems?

Is there an update planned to fix these lags on Safari?

Thanks in advance to those who respond!
