Can I still upgrade RAM and storage on an old Mac mini?

I know some out there will think I'm balmy to ask, but Is it still possible to upgrade the RAM and storage on an old Macmini (series no C0********H) - Was this the Macmini6? It currently is running on 8 GB of Memory and the HD is telling it has 813 GB of 1 TB left. It's running on the OS Catalina 10.15.7 but some features aren't being supported (as expected). It runs OK, if there aren't too many windows open. I can still access YouTube content, browse (without images), use email but I'm kinda 'walking on eggshells' and being cautious not to make too many demands! Has anyone upgraded theirs? Is it worth doing and where did you get the memory upgrade/storage? Is it running the latest OS (Sequioa, and will it run on subsequent OS? I'm not a technical geek, so any information shared would be of great help, thanks. :)

Catalina fell off the list of the "most recent three" in October 2022, when Ventura came out. It isn't supported by vendors like Microsoft and Adobe, and doesn't get the latest Safari updates.

Catalina is still good enough to run current versions of

These may help substitute for some of the things that you can't get – and some of these applications are one that you might want to use on a new Mac mini.

But it's probably time to start thinking about an upgrade to a M4 Mac mini or M4 Pro Mac mini. Those would have lots of upgrades over your current Mini, including

  • Much faster CPUs and GPUs
  • Greater maximum RAM capacity. (Be sure to get all the RAM you need; it's not expandable after purchase.)
  • Fast SSDs
  • Modern expansion ports
  • Compatibility with macOS Sequoia and with a lot of modern Mac applications
