iPad iOS 17.7.7 update Lost Safari Favorites Bar

Updated iPad Gen 6 to iOS 17.7.7 today, and now my Safari Favorites Menu Bar is missing.

Process to rectify as follows:

  • Checked Settings > Safari > Show Favourites Bar = On
  • Turned above off and full cold reboot
  • Turned above on and full cold reboot
  • iCloud settings turned off Safari sync'ing and reset
  • Full cold reboot
  • iCloud settings turned on Safari sync'ing
  • Full cold reboot
  • Reset Settings
  • Full device restore from backup prior to update
  • Full device reset to factory settings

None of the above worked to bring back the Safari Favorites Menu Bar within Safari.

iPad, iPadOS 17

Same as above, plus Safari start page can’t be edited. It defaults to every option checked (Favorites, Frequently visited, Shared with you, Privacy report, etc.)

I like to have clean start page, with favorites bar enabled and just iCloud tabs option.

But as OP stated above, the show favorites bar is bugged / broken with 17.7.7 -AND- the start page can’t be edited. It just constantly reverts any edit settings made when closing/restarting browser. It only saves edit options for the duration of browser session.

Just updated my 6th Gen to iPad iOS 17.7.7

My Safari homepage now only shows the first 2 rows of my Favouites icons. I have to click 'show all' to access the rest.

Showing Privacy report. Can only be removed if go in to customise settings.

HOWEVER...when I clear cache, history etc, the settings revert back.

So everytime I go into Safari I now have to customise my favourites page.

Everytime!!

AND I'm also missing the Favourites Bar.

What have you done?

Your 'fix' doesn't work.

PS: to my original post.

I posted a bug report today here: Feedback - Safari - Apple

Good but sad to see that I was not dreaming with this bug and that other are also experiencing it. Please all post bug report to above link. I just copied and pasted my original post into the report. (including the iOS version number 17.7.7)

I have the same issue and thought I was going crazy. I used the bug report links listed by others in this thread. Recommend everyone do so. Something very interesting I noticed when reporting the bug. In the “choose which op version you’re using” section, 17.7.7 doesn’t even show in the drop down list. Goes from 17.7.6 to 17.7.8! What the heck. I also see many higher versions available into the 18….s. But my iPad won’t let me update to them. My software update says my IOs is up to date. Mine is iPad Pro Model NPHG2LL/A.
