Does the new Magic Keyboard for iPad have backlit keys?

Hi. Is it true that the new Magic Keyboard for iPad Air (M3) does not have backlighted keys, but the older for iPad Air (M2) does? I know that I can bye the former one though my M3 is compatible, but it seems like a strange end backwards development. I want the latest keyboard, but might be forced to by the former one. Or am I wrong?
