macOS Big Sur copying photos and files presents no warning for duplicates and data loss

Copying photos and file issues - no warning box if duplicate

My mac (upgraded to Big Sur last night) is having issues when copy and paste photos or files. I am not getting the warning prompt to keep both, overwrite, skip, or cancel the move it is just changing the file name and adding a 2 or copy to the end.

I have tried copying and pasting / dragging and dropping (while also holding option) but nothing seems to work. We tried to do the same on my partners laptop (he has big sur) and it works!?

Any assistance would be so appreciated! Trying to copy and paste photos onto a hard drive so a warning would be great!

I do use iCloud, however I have tried with documents that are saved to my desktop.

Loosing metadata when I copy onto hard drive

When I copy photos from my Photos app it removes the date and time I took the photo and replaces it with the date and time I copied it over from my mac?

Usually the important internal EXIF metadata date etc (or the relating QuickTime internal movie metadata) is preserved unless some workflow has really deleted it. But very often in these forums the user gets upset when the more readily displayed and fragile file date is displayed in Finder lists. So tell us where exactly are you looking at the date? For other questions, please provide the detailed workflow what exactly you are doing so we can try to reproduce it.
