How do I create a floating head clip in Final Cut Pro?

I have not edited in FCPX in about a year and transforming a clip has changed significantly with new versions of FCPX. I want to create start and end points for cropping a floating clip, which I could easily do in an older FCPX version. I can set a starting key frame and an ending key frame for the positioning and scale of a clip but not the cropping. I've searched Help but could find nothing. Perhaps someone could direct me to the proper instructions.

I don’t understand why you say transform changed. It hasn’t. And adding keyframes to the Crop/Crop or Crop/Trim tool works just as it does for Transform: you can do it in the Viewer, the Inspector or in the Video Animation pane.

Perhaps a screenshot illustrating what you are seeing where and an explanation of what you are trying to achieve will help us understand the problem so we can better assist.
