How to add tables or graphs at the current point in a Numbers sheet?

Can I get Numbers to add a table or graph at current point in sheet?

Every time I add a table or chart it seems to always be at the top of the sheet. I'm getting tired of having to scroll back to the top and drag the new table or graph to where I want it, to where I was working.

Thank you for your help.

Are you sure it's at the top?

I can only get a new table or chart to insert at the top of the sheet if there is nothing already on the sheet.

Otherwise, on my machine the new table or chart is added below the current lowest one in the table.

Note that, aside from dragging, you can click the table or chart or shape object and adjust its position in Arrange tab of the inspector at the right.

It's also possible to set position via AppleScript (in or outside a Shortcut) but that is probably overkill.

I don't understand that first answer. I don't know how to make a new table or chart start out in a chosen spot. It might help to zoom way out when relocating a table or chart, so that most or all of your sheet is visible at once.

I've been playing with this further and I'm seeing different behaviours.

I've one sheet where a new table is always inserted above and to the right of the exiting table.

I have now found one where the new table is inserted below the lowest left most table.

Charts always seem to insert at the top.

Thank you for your help.
