Settings- > General -> Storage: System Data is way too large

Just solved an ongoing issue that I thought was due to my local Time Machine taking up too much space on my 1TB SSD... Won't get into Time Machine, there is enough info about that...

I tried a bunch of commands to locate large files but my system had not calculated the folder sizes in real time and terminal took forever to calculate. The long/short of it is – it was an Adobe cache issue. As the old adage goes, "the two hardest things in computer science: cache invalidation and naming things ." Apparently even Adobe can't get this right. I had max cache at 90gb in After Effects but each version of After Effects kept it's cache after the software was updated. If you think this could be you, check:

Macintosh HD/Users/YOUR_USER_NAME/Libraries/Caches/Adobe/ALL_ADOBE_APP_CACHE_IS HERE

You can delete all the files within the "Adobe" folder, but don't delete the "Adobe" folder itself. You may want to delete other app caches while you are in there to save space.

NOTE: If you are looking for other large files. Also try: log files, and Docker files... docker.raw holds all your containers, this can get quite large (though best adjusted in Docker Desktop settings).
