How do I find titles in Final Cut Pro?

In my first attempt use FCP Trial I couldn't find a way to use ANY titles. I see that many transitions are not enabled, but I expected at least a few simple title options.

Are they there and just haven't found them (yet)?

Sorry - are you asking how to use titles, or are you having unexpected results when you try to use them?

If the former - this refers to an older version of FCP but the process is still the same:

Getting Started in FCP: Adding Titles & Transitions

If you are having unexpected results, please describe which title you are using and what steps you are taking to use that title - and where is it going wrong.

What "T+" icon are you talking about? I've no clue what that is, and I've used FCP since version 1. What is it supposed do exactly? There's a Titles & Generator icon (there's no + symbol involved) to get to titles and generators.

Tom,

Thanks so much. Steve's video looks like just what I need, so I'll be working through the hour today. I very much appreciate your help. You and all the other stalwarts who help folks like me are major reasons for using Apple products!

I'm a long-time iMovie user that has finally decided to step up to FCP to get features iMovie lacks. I am definitely a FCP newbie, though.

I thought some transitions were not enabled in the trial version because they showed a red substitute with a triangle and the digit "2" (I think). I assume that was a placeholder for transitions that had not yet downloaded to my Mac. They are there now.

When I tried to find titles, my search in the FCP User Guide for that term only led to the sentence, "You can create titles and credits within Final Cut Pro with title effects." That was no help in finding the "T+" icon at the upper left. The article on the FCP Interface also doesn't show where the "T+" icon is located.

The "T+" icon also leads to the Generators. Searching on that term leads to an article explaining it and links to nine other articles. Unfortunately, it also doesn't say where they are on the FCP window.
