Quicktime Player can record both audio and video from the Mac. Find it in Applications folder.
Apple's iMovie app is a good choice for entry-level video editing. Available in the App Store if you don't already have it, but I believe it's also included with the OS.

If you have an iPhone, you can set it up as a second camera and edit the video it takes into your project as well.
