Can I use a Bluetooth external mic with Live Listen and AirPod Pro 2 earbuds for real-time transcription?

i would like to a bluetooth external mic using live listen (not to record) to be able to hear people in a crowded room because i have profound hearing loss. Also i would like to transcribe this input into text so i can read what they are saying live. i do not want to record anything.

Am no expert in this area, yet your post to the community deserves some response.

Your plan sounds amazing, yet am not so sure it can be achieved with existing hardware / software.

At least we get your discussion thread underway, and others with more expertise may join in.

It seems Live Listen requires the iPad itself as the microphone ... I could be wrong.

See how you can: Get live captions of spoken audio on iPad - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"With Live Captions on iPad, you can get a real-time transcription of spoken audio. Use Live Captions to more easily follow the audio in any app, such as FaceTime or Podcasts, and in live conversations around you.

Note: Live Captions is available on supported models when the primary language is set to English (U.S.) or English (Canada). The accuracy of Live Captions may vary and shouldn’t be relied upon in high-risk or emergency situations." More info in the above article.

John ~ A new feature "coming later this year" will allow you to read it live on an Apple Watch. See the section "Live Captions Arrive on Apple Watch" here:

thanks for info that is very helpful especially the live captions. you can only use this with english usa or canada. i changed the language on my english uk to usa and this option now works!!!

I also use dictation into the notes app and I prefer this as you can keep and send the transcrpt.

BUT it is not much use unless you can use it with a remote microphone. Otherwise you have to stick the phone right up close to someone you are communicating with in which case you cannot read it live.

Big QUESTION how can i connect dictation or live caption to remote mic?
