Sudden iPhone 15 Pro Max Motherboard Failure: High Repair Cost for Flagship Device After 2 Years

Dear Apple Team,

I’m writing to express my concern and disappointment regarding the sudden and unexplained failure of my father’s iPhone 15 Pro Max, purchased in November 2022.

He is an obstetrician-gynecologist and depends on his phone for critical communication. On Sunday morning, he placed his fully functional phone on the counter before a surgery. After completing the procedure, he found the phone completely unresponsive — no display, no charging response, and no effect from any key combination or forced restart.

The following day, we visited an authorized Apple service center where the technician diagnosed a motherboard failure and quoted ₹63,000 for repair. The phone has never been dropped or exposed to water.

As long-time Apple users, we invest in your flagship products for their supposed durability and reliability. It’s extremely disappointing that such an expensive phone would fail just over two years into use — without any misuse — and require such a costly repair.

This situation raises serious concerns:

  • Is it reasonable for a premium device to fail like this with no physical damage?

  • Why is repair so expensive that it pushes customers toward buying a new device?

  • Is Apple still committed to product longevity and customer trust?

I request that you look into this matter seriously. A brand known for its premium experience must also be accountable when its devices fail unexpectedly.

Please feel free to reach out to me via email for any follow-up.

Sincerely,

Krish
