Safari app flickering every 2 seconds after macOS 15.4.1 update

After updating to Mac iOS 15.4.1 my Safari app keeps flickering. I tried bringing it up in the safe mode and restarting again which fixed it for a day and again it started flickering. Both my macbooks now have this issue.

I am suspecting something that is installed is incompatible with MacOS 15.4.1 and causing this. Why would I conclude this:

  • I have never seen this reported before. It sounds unusual.
  • Both your Macs are affected. People usually set up and install the same or similar things on their multiple computers.
  • It went away, at least for some time, when you booted into Safe Mode. Safe Mode disables non-Apple extensions. So I am suspecting a non-Apple extension.
  • Is it only Safari, or is it all web browsers that do this

Things to look for: Safari extensions, add ons that affect web access, networking, security tools, anti-virus, cleaners, network monitors, firewalls, ad blockers and so forth.

You can download and run Etrecheck and post the report here as outlined in the above link. People will read the report, including possibly the inventor of Etrecheck, and might find what is causing this.

macOS 15.4.1 is current.

I have not heard this issue before.

you can file a bug report / submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

—you can try disabling any and all extensions you may have added to Safari>Settings>Extensions

—Try a different browser and compare your results.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS
