Safari "ask for each download" option does not work

When trying to choose a download location for files, I cannot select the "ask for each download" option. It just immediately switches back to "Downloads." Using latest MacBook Pro 14 and latest MacOS Sequoia version.

Safari Download Location Not Working In Safari, when I select my download location as "Ask for each download" it just automatically downloads to my Downloads folder without asking. The setting doesn't change, it just never asks. If I change the setting to a specific location, such as my Desktop, it works fine. Any ideas how I can fix this? Safari not asking location for download Hi, I am using MacBook Air M2. In Safari preferences, I have opted for Safari to ask me the location for a file to be saved before it is downloaded. However, despite this, Safari proceeds to download the file into the downloads folder every single time. Any solutions please?
