I've added Spanish as in input for the keyboard on my macbook, but I can't get the accent for vowels to work for capitalized letters.
Watched a video, it used the SHIFT/VOWEL/QUOTATION keys but rather than an accent I get two dots above the vowel.
Can someone provide the correct key combination?

That depends on the exact keyboard input you chose.
The way to type accents, is not that combination, you can tap on the accent key on its own, and then type the vowel you want to have accented.
´ then A, for Á
If using the generic "Spanish" option the accent will be located next to the colon and semi colon key.
If using say "Latin American" the accent will be on the [{ key next to the P key.
Tap it once to create the accent then you can tap shift+vowel to get the upper case letter. It should then merge them to form the accented capital letter.
Alternatively, Holding down on the vowel you want the accent for, should offer a list of accents for it and you can select it with the mouse or by typing the number above or below the accent you want.
