Why is AirDrop not connecting to devices despite same Wi-Fi?

We are both contacted, updated Hotspot status off, rebooted, updated , both same wifi, just one off us wifi, WE HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING, but airdrop is just not working. Worst sharing app ever!

According to the help, the critical issue is that both devices have WiFi enabled, not that they be connected to any specific network(s). They should establish a temporary network for the transfer.


Are you sure both devices also have Bluetooth enabled and that they are within 30 feet (10 meters) of each other?
