How to fix Mail app glitches after iOS 18.4.1 update?

I was on the phone yesterday with Apple Support. Almost 1 hour. Email issues not sending stays in outbox. I have always had avPN on my phone so now I have to turn it off to get them to go through. I have had the same phone same software for McAfee for almost a decade never encounter these problems all my emails now say no sender or subject. Even though I pay extra for storage in iCloud they are just not loading. Apple please fix.

I too am having an IOS Mail app issue. For me, I started to notice it in the morning when I'd check email that loaded through the night. The app just freezes. Closing it, closing all open apps, switching to another wifi, switching to 5G and waiting (while the app is frozen) do not resolve it. Only rebooting the phone does and even then, only for 12 hours or so because in the evening, this will repeat and I have to reboot again.

I have 10 email accounts so I disabled all but one and rotated the active one down the list to see if the issue was caused by one of these accounts but the issue was persistent with any one of the ten accounts active and the nine remaining ones inactive. It persisted with all ten inactive. Only rebooting resolves it, temporarily.

Hope they fix this soon.

I am having the exact same e-mail issues. Very arbitrary as to when it decides to tell me password is incorrect.

In addition, the update deleted certain events from my calendar. Not all - just a select few (current and past).

Very frustrating that these IOS updates seem to do more harm than good. Difficult to constantly have to correct issues.

Same issue - have to use the three dots to mo e emails to folders or trash. Absolutely frustrating!!

The past couple days sporadically when I try to look at my mail, it just highlights the mailbox I touch and does not open. I've had to restart my phone repeatedly to fix this. It's got to be a bug.

I am having the same issue! I had this issue before after one of their updates. They completely reset my phone. Definitely do not want to do that after every update.

Same problem here. I’ve spoken to Apple support and they are now forwarding it to a next department to figure out if it’s a problem that has to do with a specific combination of apps on the phone.

With Apple support I’ve found a (sort of) working “workaround”. It’s not ideal but it works.

If you want to move one or more e-mails to a specific folder or to trash, first put the phone in airplane mode and then (without internet connection) move or trash the messages. When you reconnect it won’t put it back in the original folder or inbox.

I know it’s not ideal but it works for now.

Hi guys, I contacted my local Apple Support and they provided a workaround that fixed this issue on my iPhone:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings

It’s the new “Push” mechanism Apple introduced and its breakage snuck through QA.

I made the new email Apple forces on us… then I turned off “Push” in the email account settings for the new iCloud account and set it to the same as external emails. So now all fetch email the same way, voila. Works.

My Apple mail is completely gone. I have lost all my history, I cannot send or receive email since April 30. This has been the most frustrating Apple experience I've ever had. I've been on with senior support several times and now I'm told they have no idea when it will be fixed.

About every fifth email I open goes to a black screen. Not only does the content not load, but none of the interface loads either. Restarting the app—and my phone—do nothing. I’m having to go on the web to check mail.

Also, emails are disappearing and reappearing again in my inbox.

I can't even use my mail app at all after updating. It says that the passwords are wrong for all of my emails. I removed all of them from my settings and put them back and it's still not working.

Absolutely the same issues as the previous statements. Doesn’t matter what I do but it will not move the mail. It crashes immediately after it goes to the folders menu.
