How to transfer edited photos with favorites from iPad to iMac while keeping a subset on iPhone and iPad?

I just bought a ipad for photography travel instead of my older macair. Can someone help me with the following:

I have imported hundreds of photos from my camera to my ipad ios 18.1., and edited them using Photos.

In the end, I'd like to transfer all the photos (including edits and favorate tags) to my iMac, and keep only a subset (favorates) on ipad and iphone.

I've already transfered the photos to my iMac using finder, but see the favorate tag was marked on my imac inconsistently. I have a icloud sync in process, and not sure if this will fix the edits and tags.

So, I need hints to pursue.

Any suggestions on a good workflow, from using my ipad to load and edit photos, to full storage on my imac, and keeping only a subset for view on my iphone and ipad.

THANKS!!!

If you use iCloud, then the pictures get transferred among devices automatically and flawlessly.

I, too, like many others, have only favorites on my iPad and iPhone. We do this by having two Libraries on the Mac, an Archive Library and a Favorites Library. We copy the favorited pictures from the Archive Library to the Favorites Library which is connected to the other devices through iCloud. New pictures coming from the phone or iPad are synced to the Favorites Library and are copied to Archive. All but favorites are deleted in the iCloud versions.

Actually, I have a Z5 Library, a Z8 Library, and others. Most of us use the trusted 3rd party app PowerPhotos ($30) to shuffle pictures and albums between Libraries.
