Numbers formula corrupted since update

Hi, would be very grateful if someone could help with this.

I have a spreadsheet set up with multiple sheets, some sheets represent different jobs (ie profit and loss for that specific job) and some sheets are main sheets which I input data such as money received into my business.

I set a formula a few years ago with help from others for my job sheets to fetch data from the main money in sheet using an index and match formula.

I've attached images below

Since a recent update there seems to be a glitch somewhere and it fills my whole money in table in my job sheets which throws all my figures off.

I hope it's something simple and I've explained it ok.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Camelot

Thanks for taking the time to look into this.

The 2nd screen shot is a table from the a job sheet (it's a template sheet which I duplicate when I open up new job sites). It's a large sheet with multiple table but I'll up load a screen shot zoomed out for reference.

I have other what I call main sheets consisting of 1 table each for Money In, Expenditure etc. with In this sheet/table I have a job column which refers to which job the money in is for or what job the expenditure is for. When I input the job name into said column it should populate a row on a similar table in the job sheets which then other formula works out the specific totals for that job.

The issue I have is when I input the data into the a main sheet it populates the whole table in my job sheets by duplicating the data which should be one row.

I've taken the @ out, it makes no difference. This has only started to happen after the recent update.

Hope this clears things up, obviously not for me.

Is it possible to send you whole spreadsheet so you can see it in its entirety?

I can't work out the flow from the screenshots posted...

You reference a 'Jobs sheet', but I don't know where that is (if at all) in the above sheets.

I also don't know what you're seeing wrong... Clearly you know, from experience, what this sheet should look like, but without that knowledge I can't tell what cells might be at fault.

Without knowing that it's hard to know where to start. If I had to take a stab in the dark, I'd point at the @ in the @ INDEX() part of the formula - @ references were only added in Numbers 14.4, so could not have been part of the original formula. Numbers usually intuits whether to add the @ sign or not to older Numbers files, but it may be this is a case where it got it wrong. Does the sheet work if you remove the @?

The populating of the whole table likely results from the new "dynamic array" or "spilling" behavior in the latest Numbers, similar to modern versions of Excel.

The INDEX MATCH typically looks up a value somewhere else in the document. In modern versions it can return a multiple values instead of just one. Its simpler modern equivalent, XLOOKUP, can also return multiple values.

It is difficult to see how to modify your old formula without understanding the specifics of the ranges to which it refers and what you expect the results to be. You do not seem to have 'Job' table in your screenshots. It would help if you could give a specific example including that, and the result you expect.
