Why is my MacBook Pro running macOS Ventura 13.7.5 taking so long to boot?

On my 2017 13 inch MacBook Pro fitted with an OWC 2 TB solid-state drive, running Ventura 13.7.5, I am experiencing extremely slow boot times. It consistently stops half way across the progress bar for at least a minute or two and total boot time from powering up to the login prompt is two minutes and 20 seconds.

What do you think could be wrong?

that happens when the drive Directory is found to be damaged while you are starting up. it does an extra pass of disk checking.

I recommend you restart in Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and Repair the drive again. Recovery uses more than 20 RAM disks to hold needed temporary items, so the Boot drive is completely free for deep repair.

¿What is the date of your most recent backup, and by what method?

Lagging Boot:

A. Boot in Safe Mode:

Go here: Start up your Mac in Safe Mode - Apple Support. In Safe Mode, damages system files are fixed, and login items and unnecessary items do nit run at login. Wait 30 seconds, and then try booting up and logging in, seeing it is fixed.

B. Remove Login Items:

Boot in Safe Mode. While in Safe Mode, remove all of your Login Items, and then restart the Mac.  Go Here: Change Users & Groups Login Items Preferences on Mac - Apple Support

C. Run First Aid:

  1. Boot: into Recovery ModeGo Here:  Use macOS Recovery on an Intel-Based Mac - Apple Support
  2. Select: Disk Utility
  3. Select: the Drive
  4. Click: First Aid button
