I cannot silence group chats anymore with one of these last updates, contacted support twice about it, nothing was resolved from it. No matter if I select “hide alerts” or swipe one the chats and hit the 🔕. Only thing I was told to remedy this is to set up something in focus which is just absolutely ridiculous

I have the same problem, and it appears this has been an ongoing bug with iOS for at least two years (according to the number of search results with this same issue). It's ridiculous that there hasn't been a fix yet. I don't want to have to create a specific focus setting each time I am in a new group chat. Our focus and attention is sacred and should be treated with more respect by these tech companies. I am exhausted and overstimulated, why can't I silence a group chat with the tap of a button? Or more accurately, why doesn't it work when I choose to do so?
