iTunes sync sometimes lists albums ("Various Artists") incorrectly on my iPhone (as "The Temptations")
All of my music files are digital files that I own and are stored on an external drive. I run the Music App for Mac on an M1 MacBook Pro with macOS 15.4.1. My iPhone SE (2nd Gen) is running iOS 18.4. When importing my CDs, I unclick "Compilation" and manually update Details -> Album Artist to be "Various Artists" (I prefer to organize my files that way). This all works with no problem.
I encounter the error(s) when syncing music from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone. It doesn't often happen - maybe less then 10-15% of the time when syncing new music from my Mac to my iPhone. But when it happens . . .
The error(s):
• Sometimes individual tracks from "Various Artists" albums appear on my iPhone Music app as coming from an album by "The Temptations". (In those cases, the rest of the tracks from a "Various Artists" album sync correctly to my iPhone - ie, they appear on my iPhone as coming from an album by "Various Artists".)
• In other cases, the sync of the entire album of "Various Artists" is impacted (the entire album of "Various Artists" syncs ot my iPhone as an album by "The Temptations".)
NOTE: In both cases, the sync of the "Artist" metadata is not impacted - only the "Album Artists" metadata is impacted. See the attached screenshot from my Mac and my iPhone.
I have adjusted the metadata in my Mac's Music app - under Details -> Album Artist, sorting -> Album Artist, and Sorting -> Sort As to be sure that all reflect "Various Artists". That has not helped.
I have even taken the step of changing Details -> Album Artist to be "Various Artists +". With "Various Artists +", it all syncs perfectly fine. However, when I revert Details -> Album Artist back to "Various Artists", I again encounter the same error(s).
Thanks in advance for your help.
