No, not in FCPX, you can output 708 captions, like .scc and then use an alternate program. We are using an old program called MacCaption that has since been canceled. When you export MXF files are you getting compression clicks and pops? I am after the latest ProApps update. I talked to level one apple support and went no where as I walked through issues that I was having but it didn't get moved up in support. It's a problem.

No, you can't embed captions into MXF files through apple's FCP app. Which, to me, when apple touted the new MXF format and captions ability it was 50% of what most of us needed, as the last 50% is the actual embedding of captions into MXF files. We will see what the future holds for FCPX.
