I just noticed after updating to 15.4.1 that when I select manage storage in the drive drop down menu the Photos number is way too low. Always showed about 23GB now shows 2.4 GB. The 23GB shows in the Pictures directory correctly but not here. Anyone else notice this behavior?
None of those categories are folders. They should include everything in those particular folders, but I’m not absolutely certain about that.Those headings are just categories and could include things that match that category anywhere on your Mac and possibly even in iCloud.
As they tend to be confusing and unreliable, I do not advise anyone ever use them.
I just find it interesting as the 23GB is the size of my Photos library (as it is in the Pictures directory) but this odd reading in the manage storage file just started after the latest OS update so something change in the way it calculates the photos. I agree that the "manage storage" display is not very accurate anyway.
I reinstalled the OS and now reads correctly.
