How do I fix disappearing voiceover audio box in Final Cut Pro?

I use this feature frequently and this problem just started out of the blue. When I record and end it, the audio box vanishes. The meter is showing audio being received .No updates or changing storage locations. I’ve deleted and reinstalled. I’ve powered off, tried selecting another event to record on, tried giving full disk permission. I’ve tried three different mics. I’m totally stumped and frustrated as this is part of my living. I have to record voiceover on my phone as I’m watching the project and then upload and spilt the audio to get the job done. Any ideas?
