macOS Sonoma is just over 12 GB. Even if you're disconnected from the Internet, you can do this so you don't start from scratch the next time. Follow the path Settings, General, Sharing. Find the option to cach content and open it so that the download will continue where it left off. alternatively, you can download it as a disk image from the AppStore. you can load this disk image as if it were a normal application installs.
