Pages on Mac causing big power drain

Every time I run Pages app on MacBook Air 2 (running MacOS 15.3, 15.4, 15.4.1), I notice the major energy drain after just a few minutes. Even if it's running in background (not in focus). Numbers, Keynote run just fine.

Apps are up to date (v14.4)

MacBook Pro 202 Intel: I'm just using pages (version 14.3 (7042.0.76) to create a simple lesson plan with a few tables that contain a few simple arithmetic formulas, and the laptop heats up as if I've been on a Zoom call for nearly an hour! Idle apps using significant CPU time. Is this normal? (Includes Acrobat Reader and Final Cut Library Manager Was just checking CPU use on Activity Monitor and noticed Acrobat Reader is using like 25% CPU. It was idle. It had two documents open. FCLM came up high CPU briefly (one cycle in Act. Mon.) I'm not very surprised about FCLM, as it might be doing some background stuff, but Acrobat Reader with 2 docs open and doing nothing I could see? (Why do I use Acrobat? Because preview adds random horizontal lines to at least one document and the screen goes blank when I hold down the PgUp or PgDn key.) macOS 12.7 Acrobat Reader version in a screenshot. TIA!

My M3 Macbook Pro 14 drains battery quickly with just web browsing I'm having the same issue. I have started seeing the battery draining out too fast since day one. It's been just 12 days since I bought it. I thought the stock Mac OS update wasn't optimized or something and did the update to 14.4 as well. And not much improvement. The overall battery backup is about 6 to 8 hours max, with only Google Chrome usage, maybe with 15 tabs open. I was expecting around 12 to 16 hours. Totally disappointed, not sure what is the issue. Looking forward to a solution here.

Try opening Activity Monitor and checking the Energy tab to see if Pages is actually using an unusual amount of power. If it looks high, you might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling Pages—sometimes that clears up weird issues like this.
