Why does my mac studio revert to factory reset wallpaper every time I update OS?

My only Sequoia Mac is an M4 Macbook Pro and has not shown that behavior. It went 15.3 > 15.3.1 > 15.4 > 15.4.1 (this just minutes ago) with no change to either wallpaper or screensaver. All updates were "over the air" via our home network.
