Notes App INCOMPATIBLE with Open in Pages - after years of working properly

The Notes App for iOS 18 (including 18.4) will no longer open all scans, pictures added to a note when following APPLE procedure and menu option OPEN IN PAGES. It stopped working in Dec. 2024 and since then my apple support case has ESCALATED to Apple Pages group, who can DUPLICATE the issue independently. It occurs with Notes iOS scans, pics be it one or several. Pages in both MacOS and iOS report the import as including INCOMPATIBLE FILE FORMAT, this while using the iphone or iPad Camera in the Notes app to save the scan or picture.


Apple does NOT seem to be doing ANYTHING about it, this in spite of the fact that they can duplicate the problem independently. I have had to: delete the Notes app, reinstall it, same with Pages, then RECORD the issue at my time/expense, upload it to Apple Dev. Support this IN SPITE of the fact that the senior representative could DUPLICATE the import error INDEPENDENDLY using their own devices.


Is ANYONE able to add their voice to this? I did get a work around: print each scan/pic individually or cut and paste each pic into Pages… some fix… please help and provide input. I can share case IDs and email acknowledgements that came from Apple Support.

No Apple employees participate in these fellow user-supported and public communities. Thus, no one here can fix Apple's application code.


As the Pages product team is already aware of your issue , it may be several months, or never before it is fixed by Apple. An updated version of Pages (14.4) was just released and if that does not resolve this issue then you have to determine a workaround to your Notes .vs. Pages problem.

I have the latest iOS 18.4.1 and Pages 14.4

I don’t know if you noticed, but they could duplicate the problem with a senior agent at Pages, who was dumbfounded by the fact that she did not get a response from her own programming team in over a week. Even after doing my recording of the event independently of her testing this problem is documented as existing when scanning a document in NOTES iOS on iPhone. We have even reinstalled the notes and pages apps as part of the process.


I do know that Program programmers from Apple do not regularly attend on this form is for users but as a past consultant TO APPLE CANADA, I’m quite disgusted with the current culture of programming as it is often done with Lil function testing, or not at all.


There was a time before subscription based services that there was two consequences to such bad programming.

Today I feel there’s no point in having a beta program as we are all beta Testers in release versions.

I have a release counter that shows for example, a common app such as Outlook being updated 37 times last year of which there are12 security updates and four feature updates. this is the culture I wish to bring to the forefront in the community to change the behaviour of Apple away from such a culture.AI will simply make it worse because they will target AI to basically obtain information from us through a distributor.net means of de-bugging.
