Can't sync with iCloud Desktop and Documents

I get an error when trying to turn on iCloud syncing for Desktop and Documents


I am running macOS Sequoia 15.3.2 on a 2024 Mac mini M4 Pro.


I have tried logging out of iCloud and back in again as well as deleting the user profile and starting a new one.


At the same time, I have successfully turned on iCloud Syncing for Desktop and Documents on another computer (2024 MacBook Air) for the same user, so it seems to be an issue with the Mac mini, not the account.


Please help!

I've not had this error, but it seems more connected to the number of files in your Documents and Desktop folders.


How have you tried to deal with this? Have you tried removing half the files from each folder, for instance? What happens, then?
