How can I highlight cells based on multiple conditions on Numbers app?

I'm coming from Excel and struggling to have conditional highlighting rule applied to multiple cells with multiple conditions. I tried using a "helper cell", but my formula and/or combinational highlighting rule does not have the desired outcome.

I would like to check the date column, if the date is today or earlier and any cell in columns B - E are empty, highlight the empty (blank) cells.

Thank you.

Formula in cell F2 =IF($A2≤TODAY(),"","~")

Fill down

The highlighting rule is as shown in the screenshot. Select the range of cells that need the highlighting rule (B2:E8 in your screenshot, B2:E5 in mine) and do them all at one time. To get the $F2 in the rule, click the green oval (you'll see it when you are setting up the rule), click on cell F2, change it to $F2 to preserve the column, click the green checkmark to accept it.

Badunit,

Thank you. I was making this more complicated trying to use AND in my formula (both blank and date earlier than). To be honest, I'm not sure I completely understand the "Text is" rule and how it's impacting the blank cells. All I know is your formula and highlighting rule work for my situation and I greatly appreciate your help.
