How do I change the email for Apple Card statements without canceling the card?

It's crazy that this is still an issue. Neither Apple nor Goldman Sachs has given me a solution for what I am trying to do. Basically, any Apple Card statements or payment notifications are still being sent to my old email. I already went through the process of going through my settings in Apple Wallet and Sign in & Security to ensure my current email used is marked as primary. My old email is not listed anywhere in my settings. Goldman Sachs continues to insist that is the only way to update the email and I "should" get notifications sent to my new email, but that's not the case. When I called in to Goldman Sachs I got one person that told me they have no way to change it. And another person even told me that I have to cancel my entire Apple Credit Card and reapply to fix this?? That's absurd! I am not trying to change my Apple ID. Just the email associated with the statements and payments. How is this so difficult? Another user posted on here back in 2021 and they got Goldman to fix the issue. I just got off the phone with a senior advisor of Apple and they basically said the same thing. I have to cancel my credit card because my old email (although it ends in outlook) is considered an icloud email?? And because my new email ends in icloud.com, it is also considered an icloud email and that's why I can't "merge" accounts. But I'm not trying to merge the accounts? I am only trying to get the statements sent to my new email. They eventually said cancel your card is the only option. That's ABSURD.

Alright so something happened. I received a scheduled payment notification and it now shows my current email. I followed what someone on another forum suggested which was to change the email in your settings and then switch back to the desired email as your primary. After you do that, completely log out of the account and then sign back in. I tested this by canceling my scheduled Apple Card payment and rescheduling a payment. Lo and behold, I got the email to my desired Primary email and it reflects it on the email and my old email is no longer listed! We’ll see if I get statement emails sent to this next month but it seems like I will. What’s crazy is that no one from Goldman Sachs nor Apple especially the rude Apple “senior” suggested this! They were all set to have me cancel my card and reapply or as the “senior” suggested, create a Gmail and have all correspondence go through there. I thought I couldn’t change it because it was an iCloud email HUH?

It’s absurd that this whole thing is even an issue. What’s more absurd is the lack of knowledge everyone I spoke to had on how to resolve this other than “follow this article. Oh that didn’t work? Cancel your card.” To be clear, everyone was super nice and apologetic when it wasn’t working EXCEPT that Apple “senior.” I’ll post again if this issue persists but so far it seems to have fixed itself.

When Apple changed some things with Apple ID to Apple Account and changing Apple email associated with the account it’s now much easier. All the logging out and changing settings isn’t necessary. It does still take a week or so for Apple Servers and Goldman’s servers to sync.

I’m glad you resolved the issue and hope you have a great day!

Actually it was necessary because that’s what made it seem to work. They’ve directed me to that page where it “makes it easier” to change your email but I did all that and even after a few months it didn’t work. Just baffles me that Goldman and Apple narrowed it down to canceling my card.

Another user on apply community had a similar issue in 2021. His email was deactivated and they recommended the same thing when changing it. The only reason why it worked for him was because Goldman said their emails were bouncing back and once he changed it in his settings it was fine. Sounds like he still had his old email listed in his settings.

I am able to change my email. My issue was the emails like my statements or any other Apple Card emails were still being sent to my old email and not my new one. So even when my old email was deleted everywhere, I was still receiving them there. It wasn’t until I did the above that finally made it work once I got the scheduled payment email and it showed my current one. But it didn’t work until AFTER I logged out and logged back then.
