Logic Pro Plug-in Link Button Broken: Random Mode Switches, No Sync

Logic Pro's manual explains how the Link button should manage plug-in windows in Off, Single, or Multi modes, this feature currently does not work as expected. The Link button intermittently unchecks or changes modes without any user input, randomly switching between Single (purple) and Off (grey), regardless of how many times it’s toggled off. As a result, plug-in windows do not behave consistently, making the Link mode unreliable in practice.

And before you tell me to right-click or click the "chain icon" – I've done that a thousand times...and when it's toggled off, as soon as I click on any track, a random plugin will open with the purple chain icon, once again activated. There doesn't seem to be a fix (even uninstalled logic, removed all preferences, trashed the .plist etc)
