OSStatus error -108 in Logic Pro 11 after upgrading to MacOS 15.4

This error (OSStatus error -108) keeps popping up when opening LP 11.1.2 files and sometimes takes multiple times of clicking OK before it disappears. Also, since upgrading to MacOS 15.4, when opening numerous LP projects, the program keeps asking to locate audio files from one particular folder on my external drive. This folder has never been moved and these files have never before been added to the projects in many cases.

If I open a Logic project from my backup drive, this doesn't happen. Only when I open the original from my computer's HD, which is where it was first was saved.

I noticed in Activity Monitor, when LP projects are opened from the computer's drive, they use much more memory than when I open the files from the backup drive (where the bizarre pop ups don't appear).

Any ideas for fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Does this happen with brand new sessions? What other applications or login items do you have open?

Here you go:

Import data and settings from other Logic Pro for Mac projects - Apple Support

My only recommendation is that you disable the bus/sends settings as this can really mess up a sessions routing.

Hope this helps.

I tried changing the permissions of the internal drive to the backup drive, but it didn't help.

BUT, I moved the Logic Projects folder out of the /Music folder it resided in, put in on the Desktop and then opened a Project.

Everything works when the folder sits on the Desktop. I then moved it to the Documents folder. Everything works fine from that location, too.

I'm restoring a previous Music folder from a TM backup while keeping the original. I'll see if iLogic works from the restored folder.

If not, I guess I have to keep the Logic Projects folder in perhaps the Documents folder ongoing?

This error is somehow memory related.

How much free space do you have on your internal AND external drives?

Save a Copy didn't fix the problem, nor did Clean Up. When I tried to Consolidate the Project, it wouldn't work. I kept getting the -108 error message.

Can you give me more info on how to import all of the assets into a new project. When I click on the Logic project file to import, all it does is list assets in the Browser. I can't drag the assets into the tracks.

Also, everything is normal for my projects when I open them directly from their backups on the external drive (3.1 TB space). When I open them from the Macintosh HD where they were first saved, I get the -108 message and the missing files pop up window.

Thanks.

Okay, I imported a Logic Project that resides in my Logic folder on the Macintosh HD into a new session. The files imported, but I got all of same missing file dialog boxes and the OSStatus -108 error dialog boxes.

Then, I imported the VERY SAME Logic Project from the backup that resides on my external drive. It worked PERFECTLY. No OSStatus-108 warning and no missing file dialog boxes.

Could it be that the Logic folder on my internal hard drive that holds all the Projects got corrupted somehow when I did a Time Machine restore few days ago? And if so, is there anything I could try?

The only difference I can see between the two folders is that they have different permissions for "staff" and that the backup has a few GBs less due to the test projects I haven't backed up.

I put the Logic Projects folder from the Macintosh HD into the trash. I then copied the Logic Projects folder from the backup HD drive (the projects open from this folder without any issues) to the internal Macintosh HD.

The same issues with OSStatus -108 and missing file dialog boxes occurred when I opened Project files from the copied backup folder.

I don't understand how they can open without issue from the external drive, but that same folder when copied to the internal drive presents the same issues again.

I was able to open up Project files from the TM restored /Music folder (duplicate copy), and everything works perfectly.

The TM replacement /Music folder doesn't have the musical notes on it. So I may have to do an actual "Replace folder" with my TM backup as I believe this a system folder.

Let me know if that sounds right. Thanks.

So, I replaced the entire system folder /Music where my Logic projects folder resides with a backup from TM (3/25) which I believe was before 15.4 was released. The Logic projects in that TM replacement folder displayed the same problems (same missing files and the OSStatus-108 pop-up).

If I keep the Logic projects folder out of the /Music folder, everything works properly.

That will be my solution going forward. I have no idea what is happening with that system /Music folder and Logic in MacOS 15.4.
