Unused Apple Gift Cards show as already redeemed

I bought a $500 gift card for my daughter for her birthday before she could even use it. The money was already gone. I’ve been went back to the store and bought another $500 gift card thinking I just got a bad card. This was at Walmart in Illinois. That card also had already been redeemed. I’ve already sent in my information to Apple. They give me a case number they Q blah blah blah how long do you think it will be till I get my money back and also why weren’t gift cards pulled from the store because it has also been happening at target

This is a fairly well known scam. The merchant is responsible for the security of the cards. Your first recourse is to report the incident to your local law enforcement. The local management of the Walmart should also be made aware of the issue.

Other users have stated that Walmart corporate customer service has been responsive on the issue. Any refund will likely come from Walmart corporate.

The cards are sold through distributors in almost all cases and the distributors (or local law enforcement) would need to alert Apple to the situation.

Did you call Walmart corporate customer service or the local store?

Oh well that’s interesting because I took it straight to Walmart and they said they have nothing to do with the Apple has to take care of it

Well, I just called and Walmart doesn’t do anything because Apple has to send a rep out to pull the cards considering it’s a vendor issue and not a Walmart issue is what she said

My daughter worked for Walmart (Lead CS rep) and this is what she’s told me. She hasn’t worked there in several years and this is the number she gave me, 1 (800) 925-6278
