Search bar with Safari as default browser sometimes fails

When I set Safari as my default browser and use the bottom search bar on my iPhone to search for something online, it's common for Safari to display the previous search instead of the new one. I then have to retype what I was searching for in Safari's search bar. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen at least half the time.

This doesn't happen when I set another browser like Chrome or Edge as my default; it only happens with Safari...

Does anyone know how to fix this? Because it forces me to use a browser other than Safari, even on my MacBook.
