Why is the letter "I" not capitalizing on iPhone?

I haven't seen anyone else come here and say the I won't capitalize, so waiting for an update, is likely not going to fix whatever is happening for you. I'm certainly aren't having any issues with I capitalization.

At a minimum Force Restart your iPhone and see if that helps --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Other things to try:

1. Open Settings > General > Keuyboards - Turn off Auto Capitalization if on, then turn it back on. If it is off, turn it on.
2. Reset Keyboard Dictionary: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary
3. Make sure you have updated your iPhone to the latest iOS 18.4

"Why is the letter 'I' not capitalizing on iPhone?: The I when being used as a pronoun will not capitalize. I have tried most of the fixes to no avail. I think that Apple should be able to fix this in an update. This is very annoying."

Troubleshooting Keyboard Bugs:

See if you can update your iPhone to fix bugs like this.

A. Update your iPhone:

With your iPhone model, you can update via WiFi or a Computer (with Ethernet if available). If you have 5G available to you, then you can update via Cellular.

IMPORTANT:

Back Up First:If you have an option to update, however, then be certain you backup your iPhone first. That way, you will have something to restore your iPhone from should anything go wrong with the update.

B. Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this. Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more they hear of this, the more they will know what is going on, and what needs to be fixed. Apple will know nothing of your issue, if you don't report it to them.

To Provide Feedback:

1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
3. Comment: on when this all began, and how you troubleshot this, thus far. Include the URL of this thread.
4. Proceed from there as necessary

Go to Settings > General > Keyboards > Auto-Capitalization and make sure that is turned on.
