I read in the Apply forum from Jan 2023 instructions to send a BCC text that said to go to the messages app and turn off imessage, then turn off "Group message", but as I write this in 4-2025, on my iphone 16pro max running 18.x I don't have a "group message". Am I just blind; has it moved; or gone in some upgrade?

I’ve never heard of BCC messaging. To send a group message without creating an actual group, go to: Settings > Apps > Messages. Now, turn off iMessage, MMS, and RCS messaging. This allows you to send one message to multiple people, without creating a group.
