How do I fix Final Cut Pro crashing during export or editing on macOS?

My FCPx keeps crashing during export or editing 2025. I updated to the latest os yet its still happening. Ive deleted extra cache files and generated media. I also have plenty of storage space. Not sure what could be happening.

You could also try deleting FCP Settings. Hold Option and Command while launching FCP and choose Delete Settings. It will open the default Untitled library. Re-open the library you were working on, set the Settings back to the way you like them (disable Background rendering, etc.) and see if the issue has been resolved.

If you're still having issues, post a report from https://etrecheck.com after giving it Full Disk Access. Paste the report using the "Additional text" button below in your reply.

From Luis on another thread: FCPX CRASHES WHEN OPENING PROJECT - Apple Community

1) Full backup using Time Machine; and if possible, a second backup

2) System Settings->General->Transfer or Reset->Erase All Content and Settings

This will leave only the OS itself, and erase all system modifications as well as all accounts, so you did do the backup beforehand, right?

3) When asked, choose to migrate from "another mac, drive or Time Machine backup"; select the TM backup drive used in step 1

4) Select to migrate **ONLY** the user accounts (no applications, settings or other files - otherwise you'd just be back to where you started)

5) Enjoy a properly working mac. Gradually install the applications that you do need.

Never install any "cleaners" or "antivirus".
