Mac Mini M4 - updated as my old MacBook?

Hi, i've a serious problem - hope someone can help...

I recently purchased a Mac Mini M4 for editing use, and have used it without any hassle, for several months, but today when I turned it on, it opened as my old Macbook? I haven't been meddling around in the systems settings.

What went wrong? And can roll back to the previous "install".

Regards, Tommy

Sorry, that makes no sense.

Mac's simply can't boot up as other Macs with older software. A Mac cannot run anything older than it shipped with.

If a migration was performed at some point some apps may have been moved over, and your wallpaper also may have moved over and applied on the new Mac.

But beyond that nothing should have changed, the OS version could not have been changed. Check the Apple Menu ➜ About This Mac option, and tell us what it says.

For an M4 it should tell you it's running macOS 15 Sequoia, and not something older.
