fcpx hangs trying to validate.srt

when i try to launch a project fcpx hangs whilst trying to validate .srt- cant find a way to stop this

Open the srt in a text editor and check to see if there are formatting issues. It's a pretty simple format and should look something like this:

00:05:00,400 --> 00:05:15,300
This is an example of
a subtitle.

00:05:16,400 --> 00:05:25,300
This is an example of
a subtitle - 2nd subtitle.

the problem was the project was hanging whilst validating was happening ( unsuccessfully) which meant the timeline would not load fully to allow me to check if there were captions in the timeline. Luckily the timeline did load- i did a thorough search and discovered a caption that was inadvertently carried acrois when a clip was pasted from one timeline to another. Deleing that caption seems to have solved the issue. where are .srt’s stored in a project fcpx bundle ? can they be found by examining package contents?
