I keep getting the spinning beach ball and I've tried all the remedies I can find online - safe mode etc. Nothing works. My online iCloud Mail is fine as is the iPhone. I don't know how to re-install the Mail app? Nor do I understand how to re-install the entire system (it's been a long time since I've had consider this)

Hold the SHIFT key, then launch Mail from the Applications folder
This is called a Safe Launch of the application

I just tried this exactly as you said but to no avail.
In my chat with Apple yesterday we did all that stuff from running in Safe Mode up to re-installing the macOS 15.4.
I might have to get back to them. It’s only on my Apple account because we also set up my wife as another user and Mail opened up.
I’ve had a few thoughts though:
1. I have emails going back to 1995
2. I have over 18000 emails in several Mailboxes.
Not sure if it’s relevant?

FYI This issue is not yet solved. I have already been to our local Apple Store but the issue needs more support. I'm going back to the Apple Store this Thursday.
