The 'Personal Budget' template included with Numbers assumes expresses expenses as positive Numbers.
If you want to include income then one way is to reverse the sign: a negative expense is income.
Here's a simple modification I did years ago, that also includes multiple months. Maybe it will be useful and can be adapted to do what you want.

OK, you're going to need to add a little more detail there.
At its heart, you can select any cell, put in a number and call it 'Income'. But I'm guessing there's more to it than that.
So what are you trying to do?

I did find the different template just called Budget (vs Simple Budget) that has a "Money In" section, so that's a start. What I want to accomplish is a running record, month to month, of the totals spent and available per category. E.g., if I don't spend anything in the Travel category this month, it will carry over as a surplus to next month's tracking. I want to know if, according to my plan, I have enough funds available to take a more expensive trip this month and have next month's Travel category show a negative balance if necessary.
I used to do this by hand and, later, in Quicken (for Windows) and it was a fabulous way to keep a handle on my finances over the long term.

Thanks! Your modification looks like just what I want to accomplish. I want to end up with running balances for each category over the course of a year, for example. This way I can see at a glance whether I can spend more on a trip this month because I spent none the last 2 months.
