Why does Google suggest switching browsers in Safari?

When using Safari, I occasionally get the following message from Google, trying to get me to switch browsers.

Try more ways to search in the Google app

Search with your voice, camera, and more

Is there any way to stop getting this message? If I wanted to use Google, I’d set the browser default!

Are you still using Google as a search engine within Safari? I would imagine you will have to switch your search engine to something else if you'd like to avoid Google's marketing tactics.

See here for how to do this: Change your default search engine on iPhone - Apple Support

Alternatively, you can navigate to Settings>Apps>Safari>Search Engine - and select something other than Google. I would recommend DuckDuckGo

Why does Google suggest switching browsers in Safari?

The answer to that question is that Google is frankly desperate to get you to install their Chrome product, which makes it easier for them to harvest your personal information so that they can sell it. They are resorting to increasingly desperate means to convince you to do that.

You don't have to play that game. As sventek_ wrote choose a different Search Engine. DuckDuckGo is a fine choice.

Don't use Google.
