Migration Assistant and User Account Only?

Hello,

I am finally upgrading from my 2017 Intel iMac to a M4 Mac Studio. My iMac was running horribly and most likely from general corruption and crud.

I was thinking of starting from scratch but am wondering what happens if I use Migration Assistant and only my user account?

The app that would need help is Capture One and matching everything to one of the catalogs. Those files are on my iMac. The other files are on an external drive.

Should I consider selecting other files and folders also? Maybe I am over thinking this.

On using MA you can exclude the apps and other categories as desired. Then you would have to install your apps later.

Thank you. I used MA once, almost 8 years ago. I am wondering if migrating my user account would bring over problems too. I dunno.

If you just transfer user account and uncheck all other categories you should be fine to preclude installing any incompatible apps.
