2011 mac mini boots with no display output
(1) I have two of the same Mac Minis . Both on High Sierra. One works fine. The other Mac boots (I can hear the chime and see a steady light at front), but doesn’t output video. I tried on both a computer monitor and TV set via HDMI (the same as I did with the other one).
(2) I tried circumvented the Mac HDMI port by connecting the Mac to a thunderbolt 2 port and connecting the dock’s HDMI port to the display. Surprisingly, this didn’t work for the other Mac either as Apple states it should under Video Support here.
(3)I was able to use the Sharescreen feature to login on the ‘good’ Mac after reboot (same network). I connected the ‘bad’ Mac via Ethernet and it doesn’t even show in the Finder sidebar.
(4) I tried booting into recovery mode also (holding ‘Shift’ during startup) with no success.
The only thing I can conclude is that the video card/ graphics card has gone bad.
Any ideas?
I plan to use these as media servers and for trying other lightweight projects.
