Some (but not all) of the recently created documents I had saved locally on my iPad have disappeared today. I have documents I worked on at the weekend. And I have documents from previous years. But everything else from 2025 has gone. I realised in checking that the setting for saving to iCloud had not been turned on.
How can I get the documents back? Nothing has changed with my iPad other than keeping OS updated

What App are you using to find these files?
Where are you looking for these files exactly?
If you are looking in say the "Recents" folder in Pages or the Files app, that is only a temporary grouping, not a permanent location. Older files may no longer apear there and you would need to bio find the actual folder they reside in either in the Files app, or whatever app you are using to try to find them, such as Pages or Word or other apps.
If you explain where you are looking for them, someone may be able to advise.
